Education

Education

Families face many challenges, and the NFFR helps them learn more about their condition and what can be done.

Education

The Margaret Milbank Bogert Plastic Surgery Education Center

Dedicated in July 2009 in Bellevue Hospital, this center is the most comprehensive plastic surgery training center in the country.  It provides virtual surgery, microsurgical, hand, basic skills, and biological training for residents and medical students.

Public Health Initiative

Since 2004 the NFFR has collaborated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and their public health centers in Arkansas, Iowa, and New York to conduct studies on children with craniofacial malformations. This work evaluates access to treatment, quality of care, parental satisfaction, quality of life, and physicians’ understanding of facial anomalies. These studies have resulted in six published papers, national treatment guidelines for craniosynostosis, and web-based courses for physicians and nurses.
