What does the NFFR do?
The National Foundation for Facial Reconstruction (NFFR) offers the gift of confidence and hope to children and adults with craniofacial deformities and their families by assuring them access to cutting-edge care from the world-class practitioners at the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery (IRPS) at NYU Langone Medical Center.
What is the IRPS?
The Institute is the pre-eminent center for reconstructive plastic surgery, providing structured, integrative, highly specialized, and personalized treatment for the full array of craniofacial challenges: from orthodontic, prosthetic, surgical and non-surgical medical services to counseling and family support. In 2010 alone, the IRPS handled approximately 6,000 patient visits, treating all patients regardless of the severity of their condition, the length of treatment, or the family’s ability to afford care.
How do we help?
NFFR funds the surgeries performed at the Institute for Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at NYU Medical Center in New York City for both children and adults. Many patients require an entire team of doctors, nurses, pediatricians, dentists, psychologists, and support staff to correct deformities that can impair breathing, eating, and hearing and lead to psychological distress. NFFR founded and remains the nonprofit fundraising arm of the Institute. NFFR’s support is essential to the IRPS’s ability to provide comprehensive treatment, train the specialists of tomorrow, and conduct advanced research.
Where does my donation go?
The NFFR relies on your donations to support comprehensive medical treatment, psychological counseling, research, and education at the IRPS. As part of our mission, the NFFR recognizes that the effects of craniofacial differences are deep and that a long-term commitment by the patients and their families, the IRPS medical team, and the NFFR is necessary to change faces and transform lives.
